You can reach the University of Trieste in different ways:
By train: the main train station of the city is Trieste Centrale. Several daily trains connect the city to the bigger Venezia Mestre in about 2 hours to allow you reach more destinations (train timetables).
By flight: Trieste airport is located 40km from the city (see flights and destinations) and is the only airport in the Regione. There is a public transport service (APT bus to the airport) that connects the airport with the bus station of Trieste (next to the central train station) and vice versa. Moreover, there are other useful airports to get more flight connection to reach Trieste: Venezia and Treviso, from which you can reach Trieste by train, and Ljubliana that is served by shared taxis.
By car: Exit the A4 motorway (Torino-Trieste) at the terminal toll, located at Lisert. Continue on the motorway ring road for about 15 kilometers and after the Prosecco gallery, follow the indications for Trieste center, direction Opicina. Go straight for a few miles. At a traffic light junction turn right and then downhill towards the city center. From the traffic lights calculate about 6 kilometers and you are at the main University buildings, where lessons will be taught. The entrance is telecontrolled and is normally allowed to employees, suppliers, etc. There may be difficulties in finding free parking areas.
From city center: In front of the Trieste train station take the bus n. 17/ -seventeen marked- (information on lines and timetables for urban public transport). Get a ticket at one of the newsstands located inside the train station. The stop is next to the one where most students come down, but in any case keep reference to a large petrol station. Once got off, cross the road, walking a few steps down a slight downhill you are at the University entrance.
