  • Uncertainty modeling and quantification.
  • Metamodel-based stochastic optimization.

Aims and intended learning outcomes

  • Familiarize with the fundamentals of the stochastic SBDO approach, focusing on the diverse sources of uncertainty in the design process, the techniques used to model and quantify those uncertainties and metamodel-based design optimization technique. Those concepts will be applied to the numerical activities included in the module.
  • Solve real-world stochastic simulation-based hull-form optimization problems using methodologies, techniques and tools they familiarized focusing on safety and efficiency issues.
