AM and UP students together visiting the Mets Trade and the Marin Institute
On 15th and 16th November, Netherlands hosted our Advanced Master & Upskilling Programme students’ visiting the Mets Trade in Amsterdam and the Marin Institute in Wageningen.
The Mets Trade, the world’s largest B2B leisure marine show, gave students important points of reflection on the continuous evolution of naval market thanks to its vastness of exhibitors regarding new technologies of materials and energies, security systems on board, equipment, engines, optimization systems etc.

UPSKILLING PROGRAMME: the first students’ study visit- WARTSILA’S Hybrid Centre
Friday the 9th of November, students attending the Upskilling Programme were welcomed to the new Hybrid Centre, the first of its kind in the world, assembled in Wartsila. The facility is the world’s first real-scale hybrid centre consisting of an engine, batteries, power drives, a propeller load simulator utilising an electric motor, a power take off/in motor generator, together with the overall energy management system.The centre, capable of simulating operational data, will certainly be exploited to train crews,

ADVANCED MASTER’S 2ND STUDY VISIT: going to Germany!
On 19th October 2018, mareFVG had the pleasure of accompanying the Master’s attendants to visit Hatecke company in Drochtersen (Germany).
Mr. Hannes Hatecke welcomed AM students very well. First of all he gave them a general overview of the company’s history and portfolio. Then he guided them through a complete company workshops tour: they could assist at fiberglass workshop, XXL-lifeboat assembly workshop, tender boat assembly workshop as well as to enjoy a practical introduction to boats and release systems.

CNR’s towing tank: the first ASSESS AM study visit
On July 27th Advanced Master students’ had the pleasure to spend an entire day at the CNR INSEAN in Rome: a Research Institute active in the field of naval architecture and marine engineering within the frame of the National Research Council of Italy.

Outdoor lesson: GORIZIANE GROUP SpA as Industry Testimonial hosts AM students within its factory
On July 21st Advanced Master’s students were welcomed in the plant of Goriziane Group Spa. Guided tour at the headquarter of Wärtsilä Italia S.p.A.
On 30th June 2018, Advanced Master’s students was given the great pleasure to visit Wärtsilä’s factory. The visit was led by the Operational Excellence Manager, Valentina Colaiacolo, who showed students the engines’ production and assembly phases. Thanks to her experience and skills, students had the opportunity to merge into a reality where safety rules, organization, control and study of production data as well as research and continuous changes in order to improve quality and working times are the cornerstones of this world-renowned company.

Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest leisure travel company, provides travelers around the globe with extraordinary vacations at an exceptional value. Together, its brands comprise the world’s largest cruise company with a fleet of 102 ships visiting more than 700 ports around the world. A total of 19 new ships are scheduled to be delivered to Carnival Corporation between 2017 and 2022.
Mr Tomaso Macchi and Mr Francesco Casarini offered a wide presentation showing the main characteristics of the Carnival brands and organizational framework of the Carnival Cruise Shipbuilding (CCS).

On 13th March 2018 Mr Marco Garbelli (Adrian), who is the Owner and Managing Director of Adrianaval Srl, gave an important contribution to Fire Protection’s Module. Industrial Testimony: TYCO Fire&Security (part of JOHNSON CONTROLS BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES & SOLUTIONS)
Tyco is a leading provider of security, fire detection and fire extinguishing and intelligence solutions and services for retail.
Yesterday, the 13th February ,Mr Tino Rapisarda delivered to AM students a 6 lasting hours presentation on the main activities of his Company and on the typical fire-extinguishing systems (e. g. sprinkler system, water-mists system, carbon-dioxide system, NOVEC & FM200) installed on board passenger ships, providing details on the calculations for sizing such systems and their main characteristics and performances.

Advanced Master’s lessons have just begun!
Tomorrow, 13th January 2018, at the ISDLAB PC room of the Naval Engineering Section within the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste, students of the Advanced Master will attend their first lectures.
Eng. Vittorio Bucci will introduce students to the Master’s programme and within its first 4 hours of lessons he will talk about Safety Basics, in particular about basic instruments used in ship design. The last part of the day is reserved to Lloyd’s Register’s classes delivered by eng.
